Sinopsis:
Biopic sobre la figura de Ian Curtis, el cantante de Joy Division. Está inspirada en las memorias de la viuda de Ian (con quien tuvo una hija) Deborah Curtis ?Touching from a distance: Ian Curtis and Joy Division? editado por Faber en 1995 y que roza en muchas ocasiones el amarillismo más que resaltar la figura romántica del cantante. La esposa recuerda anécdotas y pasajes de su vida más bien desmitificadores y las fotos del libro (de la boda, de la vida en común, de paseos por la playa) traen un Ian Curtis más cotidiano, que hacía la compra y se emborrachaba en el pub, lejos del mito.
Su epilepsia, sus problemas físicos y su figura desgarbada contribuyeron a crear una figura desgarrada.
