Tripp Kennedy (Patrick Dempsey) loopt rond sluitingstijd een bank binnen net op het moment dat twee verschillende bendes onbewust samenkomen om een
overval te plegen. Er ontstaat een vuurgevecht en Tripp werpt zich op de slimme, knappe bankbediende Kaitlin (Ashley Judd) om haar te beschermen. De
bendes - een stel professionals en een stel hansworsten - bevinden zich in een patstelling. Aan het eind van de dag sluit het beveiligingssysteem het
hele gebouw af en sluit iedereen in. Tijdens de daaropvolgende nacht ontstaat er een hilarisch kat-en-muisspel tussen Tripp en Kaitlin die de nacht
proberen door te komen, bijna gedood worden tijdens een ontsnappingspoging en proberen te voorkomen dat ze verliefd te worden.
