Pokémon Platinum speelt zich af in het nieuwe gebied Shin'ou, dat besneeuwde gebieden bevat, uniek voor een
Pokémon RPG. Shin'ou bevat daarnaast een ondergrondse wereld die gebruik wordt voor de multiplayermodus. Spelers
kunnen hun eigen geheime basis ontwerpen en inrichten, net als in de vorige spellen. Bovendien kun je minigames spelen.
Eén van deze minigames is het opgraven van fossielen van oude Pokémon.



In Pokémon Platinum zijn er vijf verschillende tijdsperiodes, een concept dat voor het eerst geïntroduceerd
werd in Pokémon Gold en Silver. Het systeem is echter flink uitgebreid en bevat nu ochtend, middag, namiddag,
avond en nacht. De Pokémon Contests die in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire en Emerald verschenen, zijn terug als
Super Contests en bevatten enkele veranderingen. De Super Contests bestaan nu uit drie rondes; In de Visual
Judgement-ronde moet je met de stylus voorwerpen aan je Pokémon geven om punten te verdienen. In de Dance
Judgement moet je tegen andere Pokémon strijden in een test van ritme en balans. De laatste ronde, de Perfomance
Judgement, is identiek aan de originele opzet van de Pokémon Contests; Pokémon moeten hier hun aanvallen
gebruiken om punten te scoren. 



In deze Pokémon-game zijn verfijnde verschillen tussen de mannetjes en vrouwtjes Pokémon toegevoegd,
inclusief aspecten zoals verschillende grootte en andere duidelijk verschillende uiterlijke kenmerken. De Pokédex
kan nu bovendien het gewicht en de lengte van de speler vergelijken met die van de Pokémon. Een compleet nieuw
apparaat, bekend als de Pokétchi, kan om de pols gedragen worden als een horloge en heeft verschillende functies.
Hieronder bevinden zich een tijdmanagementsysteem, een rekenmachine, de mogelijkheid om je Pokémon te bekijken in
een broedcentrum en een typekaart. De Battle Tower maakt ook zijn terugkeer. 



Het is mogelijk om de Pokémon uit je Pokémon-games voor de GBA over te zetten naar Pokémon Platinum
via het GBA-slot van de Nintendo DS. Via de draadloze Wi-Fi kun je bovendien met andere spelers over de hele wereld
ruilen, gevechten houden en online via voicechat met elkaar praten in Pokémon Centers. Het is ook mogelijk om je
Pokémon uit Pokémon Platinum te laten vechten in Pokémon Battle Revolution voor de Wii.



Pokémon Platinum is een heruitgave van het in 2007 verschenen Pokémon Diamond en Pokémon Pearl. Het
spel bevat een aangepaste interface voor tijdens het vechten, en een nieuw kostuum voor de personages. Daarnaast zijn er
een aantal extra omgevingen.

a chance to get to grips with it yet then Pokemon Platinum is a great point to get into the franchise.



If you've not played before the premise is addictively simple. You're a trainer of Pokemon - monsters so small you can
carry up to six of them around at a time. You use your Pokemon to battle others, in a fighting mechanism that at its
simplest is an elemental version of scissors-paper-stone, although with enough variations that the more thought you put
into it the more you get out of it. 



With new versions of the game out with more regularly than MPs expense claim stories, Platinum is an update - with some
additional content - on the previous DS releases Diamond and Pearl.



The new region of Sinnoh has lots of places to explore while hunting for rare Pokemon, while the RPG story element of it
means the fighting doesn't get too samey.



Aside from the main quest there's the GBA's Battle Frontier chucked in for you to get to grips with - giving you a pared
down, fighting-only world to get your teeth into. This, plus the best ever online mode you'll find in a Pokemon game on
any platform, makes for much replay value.



While if you've played Diamond or Pearl on the DS previously this isn't a major revamp, for someone new to the franchise
either generally or on this format, this is a solid, fun title that will give you hours of fun - although you may have
to share it with younger family members.
