  Director Alis Locanta’s “Back
Home 2” is a sequel, by definition, but it diverges from the original film in ways both significant and subtle.
The most immediately obvious difference is that “Back Home” was a lesbian love story, and the follow-up
involves a woman and a man. But apart from the differences in plumbing, “Back Home 2” is a cheerful, upbeat
“two hearts story” (the sequel’s subtitle), while there was an undercurrent of heartbreak,
emotional hurt, and romantic fragility in the original. A motorcycle speeds along a mountain road. Meanwhile, Alexa
Tomas is happily at work tidying up her home. She then steps outside and takes a seat on the curb to wait in eager
