Synopsis:

Westerner Tim Holt and his sidekick Richard Martin are hired to act as border guards on the Rio
Grande. This being a modern western (more or less), Holt is obliged to keep insurrectionists from smuggling machine guns
into Mexico. The villainy this time around is in the grubby but formidable hands of Douglas Fowley and Tom Tyler; Cleo
Moore, voluptuous leading lady of many a Hugo Haas "B" melodrama, is also around to rouse Holt's interest south of the
border. A very modest western, Rio Grande Patrol has had its virtues blown all out of proportion by devotees of "cult"
director Lesley Selander. (All Movie Guide)

Note: While the plot seems to wander there's plenty of action,
bad guys (however, one of the bad guys is misplaced halfway through the film) and pretty girls. The mischievous Ms.
Moore aka "Queen of the B Movie Bad Girls" wonderfully takes full advantage of her small amount of screen time. Tom
Tyler makes another memorable appearance as a black hat, and as I've mention before I find his older, rugged good looks
so much more appealing than his younger clean-cut looks from his earlier starring days. Although, that rugged appearance
was a result of ill health which he would die from in 1954 at the young age of 50 years.

For movie location
buffs, the outlaws' sub-terrain cabin (as seen in the third photo with Tom Tyler), located on Corriganville, is also the
trading post from Fort Apache (1948) and the stage relay station from Hangman's Knot (1952). The chase/shootout scene
(16:25) showcases Iverson's majestic "Garden of the Gods."
