This an ongoing release by the fine label Toccata Classics, planned to fill 3 CDs. Two of them are already available.

Unfortunately, I have only front covers for both CDs. It would be interesting to have the complete booklets, since many
of these recordings are world premieres.

Anyway, the sleeve notes for CD2 are included here in text format.

In the last three decades the staggeringly original piano music of Charles-Valentin Alkan (1813–1888) has emerged
from the darkness that had surrounded it over the past century and now it features regularly in the repertoire of some
of today's best young pianists. But Alkan's organ music – no less powerful and imaginative – has yet to
become known, even to a specialist public. This is the first of three CDs presenting all of Alkan's unrecorded music for
organ.

About the Artist

Kevin Bowyer was born in Southend-on-Sea in January 1961 and studied with Christopher Bowers-Broadbent, David Sanger,
Virginia Black and Paul Steinitz. He has won first prizes in five international organ competitions and has gained a
reputation for playing unusual and new muisic and for taking on 'impossible' projects. In 1987 he gave the world
premiere of Kaikhosru Sorabji's two-hour solo Symphony for Organ, considered 'impossible' ever since its first
publication in 1925.

At home Kevin has played solo and concerto in most of the major venues and festivals. Trips and tours abroad have taken
him throughout Europe, North America, Australia and Japan. In summer 2003 he played the complete solo organ symphonies
of Widor and Vierne and the complete organ works of Olivier Messiaen in three concerts in the same week at St. Giles,
Cripplegate.

Mr. Bowyer has released about 80 solo CDs, many of which have won awards. They include many recordings of contemporary
music as well as the complete organ music of J.S. Bach (29 CDs) and music by Alkan, Brahms, Schumann, Reubke, Hindemith
and Schoenberg.
